On the topic. No, I won't support this Bill at all. Access to fireworks should be tightly controlled and regulated.

I'm sure people like to make things go boom, but they're dangerous and should be handled with care and training, not the least of which the well-known impact on domestic animals.

You can present an Admendment if you want.

The Bill wouldn't exist in that case.

I'm afraid this bill does not adress the issue of public safety. It's basically a carte blanche for all types of fireworks.

Pretty much.

It's too focused on "muh freedomz!" than "my responsibilities"

I'm bothered by the broad stipulation of "all persons", which I suppose would include minors and felons. How about this:

I'm not sure a non-Senator can do this.
I'm just saying I like it.

This has been submitted, please let the Senators debate its merits. There's a commentary thread.

Long story short, none of these amendments satisfy my deep concerns about the consequences of such a reckless Bill. I cannot fathom any that will meet all party's concerns.

Would you rather that small children be allowed to buy firecrackers, Senator Polnut? Wink

Tongue

Again, I'm not going to facilitate anything that enables inexperienced and untrained individuals to have unfettered access to dangerous explosive devices just 'cause people like making things go boom.

Roll Eyes

The one thing that has made me regret more than anything else the creation of this process by which citizens can directly introduce legislation is that, it is has bred this arrogant disposition to those citizens about participating in the debate. It seems counter-intuitive, since no one pays much attention to that damn thread, it has the effect of silencing or rendering irrelevant their input.

Back when Senators used to introduce bills for constituents and then the constituents were invited to participate in advocacy for such, no one demanded they shut up and go away. I had hoped that this ridiculous nonsense was dead and buried back in March.

You can hop down from the high-horse, I'm usually reading this on a phone and I prefer the threads to be less cluttered. Why does everything need to be such an existential drama? It was put to bed when it wasn't being used as political tactic.

This is one element of this place I won't miss, at all.

The guy made like three posts. You da one getting all dramatic. Its not like he was spamming the thread or something, he was advocating for the bill he wrote, and responding to questions about said bill. That is hardly what I would call "clutter" and this Senate hardly suffers from too much interaction.

Is this still a thing?

I would complain about the poor conduct of certain Senators in here, except that I have more important things to do with my time. We should abolish citizen-introduced bills, as they serve no purpose.
