One person (you) = many?

mkay

SPC runs one of the finest journalistic institutions in Atlasia; I'd hate for DWDL to ruin its reputation by turning it into his poorly-written propaganda outlet.
This is not poorly written propaganda.  I think anyone has been paying attention realizes I was much more qualified to run the senate and that we made this mistake of electing a PPT not up to task.  First time Al was inactive, now we have a PPT who is incapable.  I would have no problem with you or Franzl being the PPT but HW is just not cut out for the job.  Again, I will be vindicated, but I assume again I will not win the PPT next senate.

A Month Out, Senate Races Are Heating Up

Usually it takes until a few days before the election until the status of senatorial candidates is known, but already a month out four of the five incumbents have declared their intentions to seek re-election.  Sen. DownWithTheLeft, the longest tenured senator, had declared he would not seek re-election but since has changed his mind mentioning unfinished business.  Sen. SouthParkConservative has stated his intention to seek re-election to promote his bills that have been labeled a "de-liberalizing" of Atlasia.  Sens. Lief and Franzl are seeking re-election but have yet to announce specific goals they wish to accomplish in their next term.

Sen. BaconKing, who recently stated he would resign his post if DWTL was elected PPT, remains the lone incumbent who has not yet stated his intentions.  The decision seems to be a coin-flip at this point due his inactivity.  DA members Afleitch and Purple State have both stated their intentions to get into the race.

Who else will jump?  The RPP will not be running anymore candidates in this cycle content with two at-large and three regional senators.  It would unfathomable for the DA to run another candidate as the party already has 3 members running despite only having around ten members.  The SDP will run Lief, but their next strongest candidate, AG General Marokai Blue, who stood poised to easily pick up a coveted RPP endorsement, announced he would not be running.  The JCP will most likely run another candidate if BaconKing does not run, but who?  After Pres. Bgwah, Sen. RealisticIdealist, and Gov. CultureKing, their bench is not deep.  At this point, who else jumps into this race will be anyone's guess.

Senate Humming Along Nicely

While the spike in activity may only be temporary, the senate is currently taking on a few measures.  The "Free Palestine Bill", currently making another journey through the senate, seems headed for passage after a few compromises were worked out.  The fact that this bill, previously immediatley shot down by Sens. Al and Jas in favor of meaningless international resolutions, may signal a tide is turning in the senate of cooperation and productivity.

While I'd love to take the credit, I was but 1 of 8 votes to table that bill.
Notice that except for myself, all the other senators have left the senate since.  Now, we actually have a senate willing to work towards more than pointless "OMG You are so mean" measures

You were booted from the senate and voted back in in quite possibly the worst calculated decision in RPP history

I don't think my running for election was exactly a "calculated decision" on your part.
Handing you the victory certainly was.  I trusted Duke when he said you were honorable.

"Free Palestine Bill" May Finally Pass

It has been a long-time coming, but due to a wave of compromises and hard work, the Atlasian government may finally be moving toward a solution on the bill that has sat before the senate many times.  The bill had been struck down by old senates as rubbish and trash, but the new senate has actually taken time to get to the heart of the matter.  Senator Franzl has worked tirelessly with Sen. DWTL in order to hammer out final language in the bill.  Fmr. Sen. Al, the major roadbloack to most progress in the last few senates, has decried the bill as not coming the right place, instead working to pass one of Fmr. Sen. Jas's pointless international measures.  Sen. DWTL has called a final vote sometime later this weekend.

No Activity Senate Race Wise

Though several senators and candidates, including DWTL, Purple State, Franzl, and Afleitch, have launched campaigns, nothing has really gotten off the ground.  Sen. BaconKing, who has missed several votes this session is the only incumbent who has not made their April plans known.

I applaud this senate for what it has done, which is said enough is enough with angry letters and took some action which other senates was not willing to do.  It doesn't matter what you intended, the message that was sent was clear that European angry letters won't fly anymore

I hope you're not European in a derogatory sense. We have a part to play in this game too you know Smiley
When I say "European" I am referring to the blockade of progress known as the "Euro 3", Jas, Al, and Lewis.  You are not among this group Smiley

So what happened to you saying I would lead one of the "worst, inactive Senates ever"?
Your leadership has nothing to do with it.  In fact, you have numerous times messed up rules and asked us to "cut you some slack".

SPC does have a great argument, whether or not the justices will accept it is a different story.

Presidential Election Should Be a Great One

After two successful terms, President Bgwah is term-limited and unable to seek re-election.  After showing tremendous strength in not only electing Bgwah, but having their candidate, DWTL, finish second, the RPP looks to be a major player.  Gov. Duke has thrown his name out there, and Sen. DWTL along with Sen. BrandonH look to be major players as well.  The idea of Meeker running for the presidency has been floated by some, and Lief is another name that tends to get thrown into the discussion.  As of now, no candidates are declared.

All Five Senators Will Run for Re-Election

In a move that has not happened in some time, all five senators have declared their intentions for re-election.  The five candidates will be challenged by Afleitch and PurpleState, and perhaps more candidates will enter.  Not much speculation has come for other candidates.  The JCP struggled to find a candidate to replace BaconKing before he re-entered the race, so conventional wisdom is they will not run another candidate.  The RPP has announced they will definitely not another candidate, and instead give their 3rd preference to PurpleState.  The DA seems maxed out at 3 candidates, the SDP is running one candidate, and there next best candidate, AG Marokai, has stated he will not be running.  Will other candidates emerge?  Most likely no, but we will have to wait and see.

Elections in Full Swing, Incumbents Look in Good Shape

As the April elections get underway, all five incumbents look to be in good shape.  Sens. DWTL, Lief, and BaconKing seem all but locks to re-elections.  Sen. SPC also appears in tremendous shape but could face some difficulty.  The most interesting race seems to be for the fifth seat which currently sees the three members of the DA grabbing at it.  Sen. Franzl as well as Mideast Assemblyman PurpleState and Fmr. Pres. Afletich all seem on equal pegging heading into the race.  Franzl may get a slight advantage due to incumbency, but the race is still anyone's call.

Many are already speculating ahead to June's open seat presidential race where the RPP will hope to grab its first win of the top spot fresh off of becoming Atlasia's largest party.  It is likely that the JCP will not give it up without a fight.

DWTL Analysis of the Elections

Well, the dust has settled and the elections are over.  Purple State, who looked dead has won, and the DA has swept into a tie for the senate lead electing 3 senators.  The election saw the senate lose possibly its most right-wing member in SPC, and most left-wing member in Lief.  Now what can we take away from this?

What has happened to the Atlasian left?
While the JCP continues to hold their at-large senate and dominate the Pacific region, the non-JCP is simply nowhere to be found.  I must admit that in strategy planning, the RPP never expected that Lief would lose, that SDP support had drained up that much.  The SDP was beginning to crumble when the Xahar scandal broke, but is the party down for good?  I think it may be, but they may rise from the ashes with a new party that possibly encompasses SDP members and some JCP members as well as left-leaning DA members.

Tales of my death have been greatly exaggerated...
Many seem to see this election as some sort of death curse on the RPP, and I could see why they would want to see this like that.  The fact is, when the RPP won two seats last time around it was nothing short of a miracle.  I, in fact, did not think running two candidates was even in our best interest.  We still hold 4 senate seats, 2 executive mansions, and have a prescene in nearly every region.  Sure the party that started out when the RPP did, the SDP, may have died but we are still going strong and do not feel defeated at all.  We missed by a very short number of votes of getting two seats, and more importantly we showed loyalty having not one member vote out of party.  Our 20+ voter block will be necessary for winning the next presidential election.

Well, maybe I'll have more thoughts later but for now good luck and congrats to the winners

I think you may be reading too much into it.  The elections are so close, it usually comes down solely to turnout.  If we had turned out our remaining 4 or 5 voters, we would have two seats?  Would that have meant right had prevailed over center?  No, just as the election of 3 DA candidate does not signal a victory for the center over the right.  The elections are about strategy and tactics, last time the right did the best job of it, this time the center.  Next time, who knows

SurveyAtlasia has already asked who you wish to vote for in the upcoming special election, but the NWA wants to know who do you think will win?
