For this exact reason. That it stays out of war. Weakness only encourages aggressors and change their calculations. Xi is much more likely to launch an invasion if he and the CCP estimate that it's possible without paying a massive price.

Besides the whole, ya know, 'Imperialism bad' thing, allowing Chine to annex Taiwan and take over it's industries would be a national security and economic nightmare. I wish more people were aware of this.
