Well, at least you're willing to accept what you recommend for others.  I respect that, man.

Getting whacked would probably scare you the first time, but then your first detention probably did too.  The fear wears off after the first couple of times.

you lose sight of the fact that these guys are pretty young, and probably never experienced corporal punishment.  but I know you're old enough to remember the good old days of corporal punishment in school.  So am I.  And I took many a licking in school.  Got sent in for a few whacks ever year I think, K through 12.  Well, K through 11 I think.  By 12 it was going out of vogue.   I suppose there was a time when you just took your licks, no questions asked.  By the time I came along, the customary policy was that the assistant principal would ask, "So you want me to call mom and dad?  Or do you wanna take 3 hard swift licks?"  All the while that old pedophile is salivating at the thought of a young boy being bent over, submissive, just a few feet away.  sick bastard.  Well, as you might imagine, I'd always opt for the licks.  "Involve mother?  Are you kidding?!  Please, sir, give me another paddling."  Mother would give me a guilt trip.  Maybe even ground me.  Possibly even start in with the cold eye stare and the "I'm so disappointed" trip.  Ouch.  No way, man.  Just give me a paddling and send me on my way you old pervert.

Now, dazzleman, you know as well as I do that taking a paddling is no deterrent to doing the nasty stuff.  And, in some circles, getting the licks and living to tell about it is a mark of manhood.  A status symbol.  thus, not only is not a deterrent to policy infringement, but it is also desirable because it makes you something of a living legend.

Also, my wife and I don't use capital punishment at home.  (Granted, the boy's only 14 months old, so that's easy to say now.  If he's 18 and decides he isn't going to college because he got some bimbo pregnant and wants to marry her and get a job, then maybe we'll throw down.  Serious corporal punishment then.  But by then I'll be a really old fart and he'll be able to kick my ass anyway, so it is incumbent on me to teach him lessons without resorting to violence long before that day comes.)  And I certainly don't want some old pervert checking my son's ass!  nasty old farts.  And anyway, if my kid is acting out in school I want to know about it.  I don't want to go back to the days of "Hey kid, let me stare at your ass and take out my sadistic tendencies on your tender young round muscular bum and I'll forget all about calling mom'n'pop.  Whaddya say?"

Seriously, that's just bad medicine all around.

Now, the question didn't ask whether I plan to use corporal punishment with my son.  I'd say NO.  Nor did it ask whether I want some horny old pederastic assistant principle using corporal punishment on my son.  I'd say NO to that too.  It only asked whether it should be legal.  That is another question entirely, and I haven't thought enough of it to give an honest and considered answer yet.

Glad we got that cleared up.

Well, I would hope not; that'd be harsh! Cheesy

oops, I think I meant spanking the child, not beheading him.  but we try not to do that either.
