The thing is, they're rather hard to find.  When I first heard of the "tea party" some eight months or so ago, I went on line to try to find my local chapter.  They sounded like they had some excellent ideas--and a few wacky ones, but on balance I figured I'd have a bit in common with them--and wanted to go to one of their bitchfests, but there really isn't a "tea party."  It's just a loose collection of individuals who occasionally influence elections or rally on the DC Mall.  It's not as easy as finding an AA meeting or something.  You don't just look in the phone book under Cedar Falls Local Chapter Tea Party.

I guess one could get on a spamming list to be informed of local events, but I'm not sure I'd want to do that.

Programming alert:  speaking of things both festive and rightist, the Log Cabin Republican National Dinner is on C-SPAN just now, and they're giving the Spirit of Lincoln Award to Joseph Cao (R-LA).  He's giving a little acceptance speech.  Not a bad speech.   Not riveting, but humble and honest.
