Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles and NC Rep. Brian Turner would both be strong candidates for this seat, in addition to Jackson.

J Jackson met with the DSCC today. Says he’s keeping an open mind about running but since he’s got a 14 week old that is weighing heavily

My connections’ connections say Jackson has totally ruled it out as well. There’s an account on Twitter to draft state rep. and Lt. Gov. candidate Chaz Beasley, and it’s getting a little attention.

Jeff Jackson probably runs but its a still a year away to primaries

Jackson would be Crazy not to run- IMO he would be favored to beat Tillis.

He just had a baby... politicians have families that they care about, it’s not all about moving up the ladder.

I still feel remarkably pessimistic about North Carolina politics and while it's easy for me to imagine pretty much any serious Democratic nominee (Cowell included) losing by, say, a 50.1 to 47.5 margin, my gut just doesn't let me picture anyone other than Jeff Jackson winning outright.

Jackson has never won any competitive race... not even a tough primary. Cowell has won statewide, twice.
