I think the problem for the Dems is that besides Obannon they didn't have someone that appeals to the independent voters like he did.  Not often do Dems win in this state. They collected some house seats but that was with conservative Dems.  If Daniels win this election it will be a very long time for someone like a Kearns or an Obannon that could appeal to the independent voices of IN.

As far as trashing this poll, there was only one poll that had the Dems ahead, every single poll subsequent that one has Daniels ahead.
