I will vote for Garcia in the 4-7-15, primary. Emanual's era of vulnerability is over. Chicago need a true progressive.

Voters are mad about economy and took their frustration out by denying a majority of the vote to Emanual. Especially, with parking meters. Garcia, will be nxt mayor of Chicago. Who wont change that much as far as criminal justice in the city.

If only Tony Preckwrinkle won the mayoral election.

Deb Mell will lose but Daley will win aldermatic runoff, along with soon to be mayor Garcia.

Michael Ballandick, Jane Byrne, tragedy of Harold Washington and Eugene Sawyer, 1 term curse may fall on Emanual. With the exception of Rich Daley.

Some white wards like Albany Park where Deb Mel and Uptown ward where Amy Cappleman and Rogers Park, are biracial and will be looking to Garcia as well. Where the runoffs will vote against incumbant.

Patty Blagojevich's sister, Deb Mell and alot of aldermatic races that Emanual has endorsed are gonna be tilted towards the challengers, in runoffs. There will be new alderman supported by Garcia.  The college and younger latinos must come out.

But Garcia has the policy as Emanual when it comes to fighring crime.

Garcia made the runoff which everyone thought he will lose outright and promises no property tax increases and pension reform, a Rauner reform, but progressives like him because he is not the incumbant.

Unfortunately, for Emanual, he got endorsement of Rauner yesterday. With low approvals of both, Garcia will have the needed support, in the early vote to win. Hope Patrick Daley loses and Amy Cappleton wins runoffs, two new alderman.

Even if Garcia loses, my point was that the CPS teachers union will get new half a dozen alderman, equivalent to the turnover in Daley's last term in 2007,

It will be a colossal upset if Garcia pulled it out. But, the chances are still low and the aldermanic races are the real test and he is doing just like the other politicans and doing things safe like Kirk, Rauner and Durbin.

All I am saying is that after making it to runoff, it wasnt enough, he needed to do more to the voters to prove he deserves to be mayor. And Garcia hasnt and typical politics style, all major endorsements, once again are lining behind Emanuel.

Yeah, the challengers to these aldermanic races seem to be losing steam as well, Jesse Jackson got in late, and should of endorsed Garcia like he did Carol Mosley Braun, in February.

It would have been a colassol upset, but his momentum has stalled since the first round of voting, which allowed Gov Rauner to get between himself and Garcia and getting Willie Wilson to become hesitant on his vote, which gave Emanuel time to repair some damage done with blacks.

That's why Jesse Jackson endorsement of Garcia, may have come too late.

Preclwrinkle, who thought Emanuel would win, was the only credible option.

I wonder if a few years of Garcia wouldn't have a David Dinkins type effect. Maybe Pubs should be cheering for him Tongue

Rahm Emanuel is a center right Democrat who couldn't help get Pat Quinn or a Democratic governor in office to offset the Rauner GOP budget that hurts Chicago and schools

Chuy Garcia is a progressive that will stand with the people against Rauner, I don't know why it is a good thing for you to think that it will be a good thing if Garcia wins, but the unions win.

Very good.  Chuy Garcia is a big-government liberal who wants to spend billions on unfunded programs and says he is looking for "creative financing" to pay for them.  He is 100% in the pocket of teacher's and public employees unions and refuses to reform pensions.

Rahm Emanuel is a centrist, pro-business leader who supports school choice and is reasonable on most issues.

I hope Rahm gets the GOP/Indy/Libertarian vote, lest Chicago end up with a DeBlasio/Warren-style Dem as mayor (of course, others on this forum would favor that happening, but I digress).

Garcia is the underdog, but may overcome the odds, if a half a dozen of these aldermanic races flip, and it rests on those. If he can flip those 5 or 6 races, there is path to winning.  But, if status quo remains Emanuel wins. And we all knew that.

Yeah, all the non voters in Feb went to Emanuel, not Garcia, he hoped he would get.

Hope we get some new aldermen, but the city needs to cut cost. Reducing number of aldermen is one way.

Garcia is done, he didnt get into core black constitutency to offset the loss of support from whites. Blacks are still supporting Rahm. He couldnt build the Harold Washington coalition.

I'm going to make a Teachout prediction and say Garcia wins by .3.

Hope you're right, most of the early vote was already banked for Garcia, before the last debate, but still it wasn't helpful.

His attempt to crack the Daley coalition, that included blacks was futile. Blacks voted for Emanuel anyways. That's why the Obama endorsement was so critical in this campaign. That he got Durbin to do robo calls on his behalf.

Preckwrinkle was the only alternative, not Garcia, and lessoned was learned.

Once the black wards came in for Rahm, it was over, I was so disappointed.

Violence is a serious problem in Chicago, and the voters chose Emanuel as the best to handle it, and it became central in him sealing the deal with the last debate, minus Ponce, embarrassing question to Garcia.

And the voters want to keep it that way.
