AG Lisa Madigan, who perhaps is positioning herself for higher office, desperately want her to run for senate, instead of gov, announced that a Special Election should be the Legislature final act on Jan 8th for that comptroller office in 2016, while Quinn is in office. Which I hope will propel her to her decision to run for Senate.

It looks like we're going to get a special election for Comptroller in 2016 and the legislation would set the same precedent for vacancies with AG, SOS, and Treasurer.

Cleary this a reprecution of the Blago fiasco, on the Senate appointment. Good work by the Attny General.

Madigan is an idiot for saying she'll work with this clown. The Legislature in Illinois needs to do to Rauner what Boehner and McConnell have gone to Obama: shut down his entire legislative agenda. No to anything Rauner.

With 4 years until election, Madigan doesnt want to appear she is running yet, eventhough she is. Also, the Dems are working with Unions in underminding Rauner. Dems right now are trying to see how far they can go with Rauner in opposition.

Mike Madigan is a conservative Democrat who wants to cut programs anyways, and already has. The main goal of theirs is to keep property tax low and rescind Quinn's tax hike.

Then why the hell does he keep getting elected Speaker?

This is the same man who throttled Blagojevich in impeachment and on busting spending caps, Mike Madigan.

The Madigans are into criminal justice. Just like stepdaughter Lisa, who is Attorney General, police union supports their leadership.

Rauner campaigned as a moderate, but Dems knew once the tax increase expired, services will be cut. Better way of handling a disappointment of a GOV, dont primary Quinn, see how a Republicans will look in face of service cuts, and let Madigan ride in, in 2018, on a good note.

Rauner ran on his wife's record as a lifelong Democrat. Combined with his promise to pass term limits made it seem like a reformer, not a GOPer. But, term limits has failed along with his budgets

The GOP ticket, except for Munger is doomed in IL anyways in 2016, 2018 is a long way off.
