People in the military generally have a higher achievement level than their age-group peers not in the military.
The percentage of whites in the military is no lower than in the general population.
These are the things I've heard that conflict with the stereotype that some people like to promote about the military.
They get paid more because they are in the military. Lets say college age people go to school and have part time jobs that dont pay anything or they arent going to college and working at near minimum wage.
