Possibly a good move. Though some safe Democratic state Senators with Democratic Governors, if qualified enough, leaving their seats wouldn't be a big deal.

Ted Kennedy's seat was safe in 2010.. until it wasn't. Point blank there should be nothing left up to chance given how wonky special elections can go.
