Too bad for Republicans Linda Lingle isn't running (Yes she's eligible to serve a third non-consecutive term)....she might have actually won the general against Ige or Hanabusa.

Also, if Schatz had run, he totally would be leading right now.

Yeah, Schatz could probably pull it off, but it would be crazy to surrender a Senate seat he could hold for decades in exchange for two (maybe one if the primary challenges become routine?) terms as Governor of a notoriously hard to govern state.

Progressive Hero Senator Schatz would become Ineffective Governor Schatz within the year. If he stays where he is, he’s in with a good crack at a Cabinet post or Senate leadership position over the next couple of decades.
