I don't think this will hurt Biden much at all. What will hurt him is the first debate, He will be attacked for everything from everyone. He will gaffe, and will have to defend an awful senate record. Beto or Kamala will begin to pick off his support.

I wonder if the hesitation is  Biden questions if he can win it. I feel like he wants treatment Clinton got like she was all but guaranteed the nomination and got the establishment backing the minute she announced. Biden is not getting that.
