Senator Tim Scott announcement Speech, February 6th, 2015

North Charleston, South Carolina

Quote
Hello, my fellow South Carolinians. It's great to be back in the town I grew up in for a special announcement.

Ladies and gentlemen, for the last few years, we've been lied to. For the past few years, we were tricked by a man who pretended to care for us all but truly cared for the coastal elites of the country.

I was just like many of you in 2008. Sure, I disagreed with Obama politically but I thought he would be able to bridge the last racial gap in America today and officially bring an end to any lingering racial divides in this country. Instead, what you see now are thugs tearing apart cities because of a crime that didn't happen. Riots destroying cities, like in Ferguson, Missouri, as the so called'Black Lives Matter' organization pounces deeper and deeper on the divides left by Obama. All Lives Matter. Not just Black or White, Man or Woman, Cop or Civilian, all lives truly matter.

It is with great pride that I announce that I am running for President of this Great Country to try and be the mend of the racial divide that President Obama failed to be. Unlike Obama, I grew up in a poor black family in this city. I faced the devastating effects of my parents divorce from a young age and I was raised by my single mother, who worked tirelessly to make sure her children got a better future. I flunked out of school yet I found my way back by working hard and being true to myself. I got my act together, completed college, and became a successful person in the insurance business.

People will ask if America is ready for two Black Presidents back to back, I say it is! People will ask if one Black President was enough, I say it isn't!

I am a solution to many problems that Obama has left behind. There are a great many things that he shouldn't have touched but he touched anyways and I will fix those things that he had touched.

People will probably be wondering why I'm running for President after I've been in the Senate for only two years when I could just endorse South Carolina's very own Governor, Nikki Haley. I say this to them : From 1995-2008, I served as a member of Charleston's county council, even becoming the chair of it in 2007. In 2009, I was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives and proved myself as a hard-working and diligent figure in the state house. In 2010, I was elected to represent South Carolina's 1st Congressional District, becoming the state's first Republican African American Representative in 114 years. I proved myself a hard working member of the House and proved that I earned my place, which is why I was re-elected in 2012.

I was then chosen by Nikki Haley to replace Jim DeMint as Senator in 2013 and while I did have initial doubts about my abilities, I've proven myself in the Senate after only two years in it and I promise you, I will prove myself to you on the campaign trail, as the party's nominee, and finally as your President!

I hereby swear that when I decide to focus on a state for a specific amount of time, I will go to every county in that state and listen to the citizens of this great country, from the least populated villages to the largest cities in this country because the President needs to know the ideas of everyone in order to effectively do their job.

I promise you. On this Campaign, I will become known as the man who ended America's Racial Divides and end the war on the American way of life for good.

I pledge myself to be strong leadership for a strong future!

I can't wait to start this game. Looks like it'll be fun to compete with one another.

What might be fun would be to see a Pre-game Poll that shows initial reactions to our announcement speeches before the game actually starts

Grassr00ts, could a pre-gameplay thread poll be given before tomorrow?
