I strongly doubt he would have run against Bush in such a scenario since he supported the Iraq War and just like Bush he supports immigration reform.

If anything, we might see Lieberman switch parties from Democrat to Republican and the 2004 Democratic Nominee may be a progressive like Kerry, Feingold, or Biden.
