Battle Royale

I watched it with some friends from work the other night. It was pretty hilarious. There is this one character in a track suit... look out for him if you watch it.

Un chien andalou (An Andalusian Dog)

It's a short surrealist film from 1929. Pretty damn cool. It inspired The Pixies song "Debaser".

You can actually watch it here if you want: http://vodpod.com/watch/461280-an-andalusian-dog

I'm tempted to say 300 but I'm not certain.  I didn't bother with Dark Night Returns or  Iron Man last year.  However, I'm enough of a fanboy, the only question is will I wait for the DVD before seeing Watchmen or will I splurge and see it in the theaters Friday.

splurge

Milk I loved it! Sean Penn totally deserved his Oscar.

The only problem is that Rourke deserved it even more.

Watchmen

Decided to hold off reading the graphic novel until I saw the movie. Therefore:

9/10

Now go read it and get ready to experience an 11/10.

Last House on the Left (1972)

The 70s soundtrack makes it seem goofier than it actually is. It's a fairly brutal movie but there is also a comedic element thrown in in the form of two bumbling cops. Overall, it is a flawed but interesting exploitation film.

The shoestring budget also meant horrible production values and acting and I found it overall more funny than brutal but for the wrong reasons. That's why I think that remake actually looks better.

I saw some of the new one the other day. It's not too bad.

Religulous.

Maher was often funny and made a lot of good points, but he was also a total ass at times, and the ending was simply ridiculous. Like it could've easily been something from one of Einzige's posts. It's not going to win anyone over.

Silence, religious.

The Devil's Rejects

I wouldn't exactly call it a great movie but it is certainly 10 times better than that unwatchable POS House of 1,000 Corpses. It also has a good albeit fairly predictable soundtrack.

The Doom Generation.

That was, uh, different. I think Eraserhead would be a big fan.

It looks interesting. I'll check it out soon.

Were they actually conservative during the 60s and 70s or are they just a few baby-boomer sellouts?

They were conservative in the 60s, only in the economic sense though really.

Pineapple Express-my kind of movie....obviously not for everybody.
I think this beat out The Dark Knight for my movie of the year in 2008.

Last House on the Left (2009).

Yawn. How boring.

You'd probably like the original one better. Have you seen it?

Observe and Report

Surprisingly dark. Maybe Rogen's best movie. My only major issue with it is that they went with a Hollywood ending which contained massive plot holes.

I take it you haven't heard about the Taxi Driver homage theory.

No.

(Minor spoilers)

Did that scene where he has that showdown in the mall with the actual cops remind anyone of the scene with Rorschach and the cops in Watchmen?

Star Trek

Astoundingly good. It sucks that we'll have to wait a couple of years for the sequel. I want it now.

To Kill a Mockingbird - Absolutely amazing.  Gregory Peck was brilliant, as were all the other actors.

This was your first time seeing it?

The rumor is that they want Javier Bardem for the role. That would just be too awesome for words.
