I feel, that as a forum, we should watch this.

Nothing too interesting so far. O'Donnell is so right-wing though. Horrible candidate for Delaware.

The debate was cut off by the miner rescue in Chile. No big loss honestly.

The only good part was when O'Donnell started floundering with the evolution question.

The rape and incest abortion thing I don't think will go over well in Delaware either.

She answered the evolution question just fine by stating that her personal views are irrelevant - What I said now and said then is that is should be up to the local school boards to decide what to teach, not dictated from up above.

Anyway, it's the economy, stupid.  Most voters don't care about evolution or abortion or other social issues this cycle.  Conservatives who care would have voted for her regardless.  Liberals who disagree wouldn't be voting for her regardless.

O'Donnell wasn't the best, but blew far past the low expectations Democrats inexplicably set for her.  To me, Coons came across as an arrogant, condescending prick.  And the moderators were largely on Coons' side.

Off the top of my head, just from our local area politicians, Gillibrand doesn't.  Lieberman doesn't.  Paterson doesn't.   Senator Moynihan never did.  I don't see the NJ Senators enough to really form an opinion, but Corey Booker usually doesn't come across as an arrogant prick, either.  None of them are Chuck Schumer.  

Coons just came across as arrogant in the debate, continually claiming that there was no way he could respond to all of O'Donnell's points and talking down to her.  Saying that once would be one thing, but repeating the same canned crap after practically every one of her responses just became grating.

How did I know Lieberman would be mentioned... ugh.

Not being able to answer a question about the Supreme Court Decisions she disagreed with was pretty pathetic.

Why not just go with the obvious Roe v. Wade?

I think it had to be pretty recent.

It's a gotcha question but why wouldn't her handlers prepare her for it? It's been used so many times at this point.

C-SPAN will be covering a lot of debates tonight. Most importantly, tonight will be the only debate between Sen. Harry Reid and Sharron Angle. That's live at 9 PM.

Amusingly though, at 7:45 PM there will be a debate between Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and Nazi reenactment enthusiast, Rich Iott.

Question: Do you guys think I should start a separate thread for gubernatorial and other non-congressional races on the other board or is this a good thread for everything? (I expect this thread will be overrun by comments on the Cuomo-Paladino debate when that happens.)

The big one for tonight will be Jack Conway (D-KY) taking on the often controversial Rand Paul (R-KY). This race represents one of the only at least semi-legitimate shots at a Senate pickup for the Democrats. The debate is at 7 PM eastern time.

I don't see how Conway can pull off this race. I guess he's got nothing to lose, but the whole "Aqua Buddha" thing seems really stupid.

Manchin and Raese are having their only debate at 8 PM. It'll be broadcast on C-SPAN. I'd imagine that one could get pretty ugly.

Also, the Cuomo v. Paladino v. a bunch of other crazy people awesomeness is tonight! Unfortunately, it looks like it'll only be on local news stations in NY.

This race is over (well, it was already anyway though). Cuomo walked away with this thing in his back pocket. Paladino didn't even try to lay a glove on Cuomo... why???

As for the side characters, they were very amusing! Why does Howie Hawkins talk like a black man though?

John Faso stuck the knife into Paladino right after the debate on Capital Tonight. He basically said he barely noticed him while watching and didn't even understand why he was up there.

So did anyone actually watch the West Virginia shindig? It's kind of funny how seemingly everyone here chose to watch a debate in a basically non-competitive gubernatorial race over a debate for one of the most competitive and important US Senate seats.

It wasn't noticeable for those watching on TV, but at one point toward the end of the debate Paladino got up to use the bathroom.

Yeah, I read that. I was wondering at the time who was walking around behind the candidates. The screen cut his head off.

Alaskan gubernatorial and Senate candidates will debate at 8PM Alaska time - 12 midnight east coast time.  It should be on KTUU.com. 

Schumer-Townsend are on ynn.com now.
