Mr. Governor, I'd like to welcome you to hte Office of the Mideast Governor.  You'll enjoy this room, and it's phone extension of 666 - feel free to change that one if you want.

Good luck in your term - I wish you the very best.

Also - I'm going to need you to certify the election results when the polls close, and then tell me so that I can lock the threads.

Count the AYE's, NAY's, abstains, make sure nobody edited the ballot, make sure all the voters are legal voters.  Then write that all down in a post.  I'll put hte results up on the wiki.  Do you have a wiki account?  If not - register for one.

Also, you need to be sworn in here: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=36934.165 while saying "I, [state name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of [state office name] and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Mideast Region, so help me Dave."

I'd just like to say that I am VERY disappointed in the poor turnout for the Regional election, but it was good to see that we had a better turnout in the Federal election.

Governor, when do you plan on nominating a Lt. Governor, now that the 10th Amendment has passed?

I hereby announce my recomendation of Inks.LWC as the new Lt. Governor of the Mideast Region.  My former opponent was a distinguished governor of our region and continues to be a prominent member tof the region.

Thank you Mr. Governor.  I heartily accept the nomination and look forward to testing out the knew Amendment!

Distinguished? I seem to recall him making a ham-fisted attempt at rigging a referendum.

Which one?  If this is true, I will defintly withdraw the nomination.
End to Districts. He PM'd people telling them to consciously go back in the booth and invalidate their vote to end districts.

But is that really "rigging"?
not in particular, but it should be frowned upon, whatever you decide to call it.

I agree that it was out of line.  But it was not rigging - what I did was not illegal, and I find it ironic that I am being accused by a former Senator who deleted his vote and revoted to avoid invalidating his vote.

EDIT: You know, you don't have to have this confirmation on the weekend, but this needs to happen - we can't keep going on without an without a Lt. Governor - even if you decide not to nominate me, it needs to be voted on soon.

Mr. Governor - we've been without a Lt. Governor for 2 weeks now, when are you putting up my confirmation thread, or if you're retracting my nomination, when are you nominating somebody else?

Whether what you did was illegal or not is irrelevant (though it certainly should be illegal, and in the real world the practice of intimidation generally is).

Do you deny trying to manipulate the results of a referendum? Manipulating election results is sometimes known as "rigging" them.

Well Al, what you did was clearly illegal.

No Inks, it was'nt any more illegal than what I did, or you did.  So do not try to make it out that it was.  Pure and simple.

No, you edited your vote.  He deleted it and tried to revote, trying to sneak around me.  And what I did was not illegal, just not a good decision.

Just because I'm bored, I looked over the regional acts I found on the wiki, and unsurprisingly nothing concerns campaigning outside the voting booth, the closest we come is [urll=https://uselectionatlas.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/Mideast_Campaining_in_Voting_Booths_Statute]this[/url], in Article 2, Section 1. But again this concerns the voting booth. I guess it's up for somebody to decide the legality of campaigning outside the voting booth, such as PMing.

It'd have to be made an amendment to Article V of the Federal Constitution, and even then, the constitutionality would be in question, and I don't think it'd apply to regional elections.

Not so. I deleted it because it contained some abusive remarks. Other posts of mine concerning that round of regional elections were also deleted by me and for the same reason.

I later refused to admit to deleting my vote and revoting because I was amused at quite how seriously you took the whole thing.

Think I've said all that before. Hope I don't have to again.

And I didn't rig a vote.  I encouraged people to relook at the way they voted and the amendment, and if they felt they voted the wrong way, to change their vote.  I never told somebody to change their vote.

Think I've said all that before.  Hope I don't have to again.

No, you told them to invalidate their votes, I know, I got one of the letters.

I never told anybody to invalidate them - I said think about how you voted, and if you think you voted the wrong way, edit your vote, thus invalidating it:

In any event, we need to either confirm me or nominate somebody else - it's been too long without a Lt. Governor.

Constitutionally, yes, and for this reason - he could open a booth by now.  The way our constitution is, only the Governor or Lt. Governor can, so MasterJedi is powerless when it comes to this.  HappyWarrior has already logged on twice today, I say we give him 1 more day.

I say there should be an amendment to the constitution allowing the judicial officer of the region to open and close booths.

I was planning on proposing such an amendment for November, if the Governor will put it on the ballot for me, if not, I'll get signatures.

I need ideas, most of the remaining regional people have positions or have already denied interest.

One of the people who voted me down - if they didn't want me in power, then they must have an idea for a better person.

Dean?  Joe?  Opebo?  Pick one of them.

Regardless of his answer, the region cannot wait an additional 10 days before we have a Lt. Governor.

I am interested, if you want to nominate me Smiley

May I ask, why would you like to be Lieutenant Governor of the Mideast, when you only registered today?

Absolutely.

Yes. And your answer is...?

Sir, you sound like Tom Cruise when he was interviewed for 60 Minutes back in 2006. All Mr. Cruise said was absolutely. Warner for Senate '08, please answer the question. Otherwise you'd be the next politician in Atlasian politics not to answer one of my questions. The first one was the President of the Republic.

I was only joking.  Here is my real answer:

I spend a rather large portion of my spare time on this forum, and would like to be more involved in the actual machinations of it.  That is why I am declaring my candidacy.

Well, we'll se what goes on with Peter's nomination.  If he passes, I suggest that you run for Lt. Governor in January, if you're still interested.

Inks, can you please stop questioning every single thing I do?

What else have I ever questioned?  My nomination was questioned by 1/2 the region - I raise a simple question and you attack me.

I still believe that the former Governor was a great candidate for the position. I believe he did a terrific job after leaving office helping the regions current Governor get things up and running, and is still looking out for the interests of the people.

 I applaud you Inks!

I thank you for your comments, but at this point, I just want the region to have a Lt. Governor, so I hope that we can get this ballot open as soon as possible.

You're acting as if you're still Governor. Let HappyWarrior govern.

I did nothing other than what citizens did when I was nominated.  I am letting HappyWarrior govern - I just asked why he chose who he did - what's wrong with that?  And how is that any different than what Al said about me?

If we must have a Lt. Governer, it would be better to either make it an elected post or a purely appointed one.

The region chose to give back this power to the people, and you didn't oppose that Amendment.
