Polls opened @ 7am and will close @ 7pm.

Exit polls should be out then and results soon afterwards with a good picture of what's going on at ca. 8pm

Runoff today.

I predict a Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic upset and she wins 52.3-47.7

Turnout is shaping up to be huge (for Croatian standards).

Somewhere between 60-70% (which would be up from 47% in round 1).

Voting in Croatia is pretty smooth, despite the much higher turnout.

But in Bosnia, where many Croat expats/citizens live, the situation is much different with huge crowds in Mostar, where people have to wait for hours.

There are only 15 polling stations set up in Bosnia, but hundreds of thousands of Croat expats live there.

They are Bosnian Croats with double citizenship, expats seem like an odd term for that.

Yeah, I know.

But there might have been some Croats from Croatia, who moved to Bosnia in recent years.

Which would make them expats.

Okay, but you said "hundreds of thousands of Croat expats live there" and the actual number of expats must be no more than a few thousand. Moving to Bosnia would be a step down for a Croat, their economy is even worse. Mixed couples go the other way.

Yeah, I forgot to write it like above: "expats/citizens" ... Tongue

16:30 turnout was slightly above 48%.

Which means some 58-60% overall turnout.

The Croat-abroad vote is now broken down by country.

You need to click on Županije and INOZEMSTVO.

And below at Države you can select the country.

Germany btw is NJEMAČKA and has the 2nd largest number of votes after Bosnia.

Turnout among Austrian Croats was only 2%.

According to Statistics Austria, ca. 62.000 people with Croat citizenship lived in Austria on Jan. 1, 2014 and of those only slightly more than 1.000 voted.

Her win was not too shocking though.

It was probably because the incumbent Social Democratic government is not really popular and Josipovic wasn't the strongest candidate.

The terror attacks might have caused a few extra-% for the center-right too ("law and order").

Well, to be fair: There's currently no female head of state or head of government that's really hot.

But you are right that KGK is likely the most "good-looking" for her age.
