And if yes, is it good ?

http://www.economist.com

I won about 200€ yesterday in football online betting, so I'm considering an annual print subscription of this thing to keep up-to-date with politics around the globe and keep up my English.

Yes. If you can only afford to subscribe to one English-language news magazine that offers global coverage and you keep its editorial biases in mind, it's not a bad choice.

What do you mean by "editorial biases" ?

Is it right-wing ?

Interesting:

A 1-year print-subscription costs 188€ here (and in Germany), which is ca. 255$

In the US, it's only 127$ for the year.

Thanks for your input.

They mostly seem to be a more-in-depth-version of the Austrian "Standard" daily newspaper (which I used to subscribe to as well a few years ago, but now mostly read online).

Both tend to be liberal in their writing/editorial style, with the Standard being more socially liberal though and the Economist more neo-liberal, but not excessively.

What I noticed when I ordered the Economist with my Credit Card was the fact that neither my PIN code, nor Mastercard secure code was asked on the website.

I have noticed this also several times when I was in the US, checking in at hostels, byung other stuff etc.

Basically everyone could use my credit card and pay with it, without the system asking for PIN and secure code.

When I shop at local online shops here, the codes are always asked for ...

Strange.

Because it's an informative magazine and having it for the next year also covers the US elections.

Why are you against it ?

I have now received my 1st edition of this thing and it's interesting that the "Economist" is not only in favour of unbanning pot, but also fully legalizing it (like in CO, WA and URU).

I received a short-term subscription as a gift. Though I appreciate the breadth of its coverage, I don't really care enough about "telecoms in emerging markets" or the like, on which The Economist periodically devotes a 16-page special report, to continue paying for it when the subscription runs out.

Its obits are excellent, by the way, if you're a connoisseur of that sort of thing.

The 1st issue I have got includes a 16-page special report about Poland, which I have yet to read.
