GfK Austria has a new poll out about the "end of the world on Friday":

84% of Austrians say it will be a "day like any other". 7% say it won't.

18% say that there will be a "big scientific breakthrough that day with new vaccines against AIDS, cancer etc." - 59% say not

9% expect horrific amok runs or terrorist attacks, similar to 9/11, while 68% disagree

10% think there will be mass suicides, 72% think not

8% say that a ecological and endless source of energy form will be discovered that day, 74% not

7% think the EU will collapse, 77% not

8% think there will be an extreme natural disaster like a new Ice Age, 76% not

7% think the global economy will collapse, 77% not

6% think the Internet will break down globally, 81% not

4% think the global energy supply will collapse, 81% not

3% think there will be global peace, 82% not

3% think a new World War will start, 85% not

2% think that an asteroid will hit the earth, 88% not

2% think that there will be a first contact with intelligent alien lifeforms, 90% not

3% think humanity will die out, 91% not
