Our best president, though that isn't saying much.  His only serious competition is FDR.

Everybody that hates Bush for Iraq and loves LBJ for anything is a joke.  You can place the death of millions at the feet of LBJ.

But, but, but his civil rights record makes up for his racism, the millions of dead and the over throwing of democratically elected leaders in S.America.

Dude, he was an american president, so by definition he was a brutal fascist thug.  But he was the least bad of all of them.

Haha, it is pathetic to be proud of a 'tactical success' against a few poors in pajamas, considering the resources the fascist invader had on its side.  How on earth could the scenario not be a 'tactical success' for the overwhelming power in a situation like that?

How was Iraq dumber than Vietnam?
Because of the very different circumstances of the decision-taking?
With hindsight, Vietnam was much more... wrong.

Really?  Why?

I'd say Iraq had the oil-to-steal aspect going for it, but Vietnam had the hot hookers for the servicemen in the region (not that the big wigs cared about that).

But politically speaking, at least in Vietnam there was an extant bunch of right-wing thugs (the government of S. Vietnam) who wanted us there...  In Iraq we had to barge in without any excuse whatsoever.

Has oil actually been stolen?

Well, you know - in theory that made Iraq a better candidate, since Vietnam had less stealable stuff.

Though obviously in any war the real object for theft is the US treasury, not the victim nation.
