'Heroes' among american politicians?  They're all just pigs at the trough, serving the masters.  The only one I can think of who consciously made a major sacrifice for what he thought was 'right' was, oddly enough, Lyndon Baines Johnson.

My personal 'heroes'.. no heros exactly, but people I admire.. right now Michel Foucault..

Very original. Cynicism is the enemy of good.

No. Cynicisim is just an upleasant way of telling the truth. Do I agree with Opebo here though?... No.

Cynicism is a way of being negative; it just so happens to be that those who are cynical also tend to care about things that contain a lot of negativity, so they turn out to be right more often than not.

Well, politics does contain a lot of negativity.  But I'll admit I was overly harsh - its just that american politics is so right-wing, even the Democrats.
