Disagree. Anyway if private gun ownership had been legal and widespread beforehand, the Germans would have confiscated them immediately following the Reichstag fire, possibly as late as the Night of the Long Knives (1934). They'dve been long gone by the war ('39) and the start of the Final Solution ('41).

Its actually very difficult to confiscate hidden weapons, especially if there is no record of who owns them.  They're very hard to find.  Which is why I'm strongly against any kind of identification or checking of backgrounds of gun buyers.

Why should you have more right to own a weapon than to own a car, for instance?

I also disagree with licensing of cars..

How would you make sure that everyone is insured?

I wouldn't.  I don't care if they're insured, and its none of my business.

You a trial lawyer?  They would LOVE this.

Every fender bender leads to a lawauit.

There would be fewer lawsuits if many drivers were uninsured.  As it is now they sue an insurance company with deep pockets.  If they could only sue the typical destitute driver there would be no point.  Poverty is the best defense..  who said that?

What a country - I cannot be prevented from buying a gun, but I can be prevented from buying sex!

You can be prevented from buying a gun--like every automatic weapons registered after 1986.

Well, in general there are strict limitations on what the government can do to prevent my buying of firearms, while there is apparentely no limit to what they can do to prevent me buying sex.
