Precisely, and I doubt this sells well in the rest of the country. I remember when I went away to college in the East - I thought, 'my god, what is wrong with these people, they're awful!'  Like an entire region devoid of basic tact and reserve; also hirsute and swarthy - I'd never seen such a frightful and unnatural predominance of brunettes in my life.
