This is getting to be a little bit too much. I wonder though, maybe the recent increase in these mass shootings could be due to the coverage of the Aurora shooting. Giving ideas to unstable people?

No I think it is a reflection of the economy, Sbane.  If you fire a 53 year old man who has no possibility of surviving, it is reasonable to expect killing you to cross his mind.

What if someone in the crowd had a gun?

Then more people would have gotten killed, possibly behind/in-the-general-direction-of the poor unemployed man.

Wow, now that I go back through the thread, I see that JJ did in fact mention this story, but you can understand why I missed it - this central fact (police incompetence) didn't generate any conversation or debate at all.

Well, most of the thread was filled with Link and Vosem's inane tangent.  You should definitely read the article Gully posted further up this page though.  It's right up your proverbial alley.

Thanks, yes, just checked it out - excellent article.  Capitalism and the police to blame, the original shooter a mere sad victim of the system - I couldn't agree more.
