Not really, modern Democrats are considerably to the right of where 'liberal/Rockefeller' Republicans were.

anvisihcki, you've hit the nail on the head - all they really care about is securing for their clients the fruits of exploitation. 

Of course a result of this is an unstable economy with poor growth, and ever increasing impoverishment for the masses (no matter how you band-aid things) but this is not important to them.
