Well, it doesn't hurt to try. I don't expect that anything comes out of it though.

I think it does hurt to try.  This is quite righly seen as imperialism by the North Korean government, and only goes to confirm their astute analysis that the Empire is out to destroy them.

     Suffice it to say, the destruction of the North Korean government by civilian uprising would be a very positive development.

Well, it comes as no surprise that you and other americans think this, but it does follow that the North's attitude of survivalism-at-any-cost in the face of an overwhelming Imperial force is the reasonable one.
