I neither believe nor disbelieve any.  I tend to believe that while the official story of derring-do is unlikely, it could have succeeded as depicted, and thus will forever after give a feeling of hope and pride to those who cannot realistically expect to ever defeat the Empire.  I'm sure I'm not the first to compare it to Luke Skylark lobbing that whatever it was into the drainage hole in the Deathstar.

But 9/11 ... showed that the United States is more than just a conglomeration of military might and financial prowess.  We are cohesive family of free people who are adaptable and resilient when we face incredible odds.  No extremist Muslim fanatic with a jihad chip on his shoulder will ever take that away.

Um, not to offend anyone, but how were we up against 'incredible odds'?  Unless you mean incredible odds in our favor.  I'd say the amazing circumstance was that this ragtag band of muslim fanatics managed to pull off this grisly feat.
