For my part, and with how little I can probably say about the situation as the mods are handling it, I do believe I took a completely wrong approach out of desperation to take a months' long conflict to an immediate conclusion. I have told YT that I understand his anger and frustration, and I've been honoring his wishes in not contacting him.
Whatever the moderators end up doing, I'll own what I did and I will accept consequences. I've already spoken to some and told them that I regret my part in this, which I sincerely do and came to regret it further as the last week progressed. I also stand by not having, or ever wanting, any information about YT's identity.
I won't ask or expect forgiveness from YT or anyone, but I do regret my actions and this is all I will say right now while the mods sort everything out.
That doesn't really cut it. While I'm not on YT's side on this, I fail to see how any apology would ever be accepted by his side, period.
The only solution here is a permaban, assuming there actually was any doxxing (and even if there wasn't, a permaban is probably appropriate to send a message that blackmail isn't acceptable on the forum in my opinion).
A permaban is too far. While I hate to pull the “Scott has been here so long” card because it’s unfair , that is reality. Scott has been a contributing member here for years and a permaban over one incident he does seem genuinely repentful for considering no information was actually released and the specifics of the incident (it was something said in an atlasia group chat that seems to have been leaked for in game political purposes and that is how the information was received) However a temporary censure or ban would certainly be appropriate. If this were a poster with a history of being on the borderline of a ban or identifying information actually was released/used as blackmail (the information was private but not identifying afaik) then a permaban would be appropriate imo.
Actually insane to suggest this. If scott was a republican, he would be gone asap. This wouldn't be a topic. He would be gone, mods would make a thread condemning the republican's actions and the left would rally to the defense of x person who was doxxed. Scott needs to be permaed. People have been muted/suspended/banned for less.
We all know what happened. Scott was wrong and should be permaed.
Bro there is a very prominent player in this game, on the right, who did dox someone and got zero punishment for it. Not muted or suspended or anything. No need for your wild hypotheticals.
