If any of Bennet, Swalwell, Ryan, de Blasio or Moulton get in: they're idiots. They missed their chance. They won't qualify for the first debate - so why embarrass yourself? I don't get it. All of them bar Ryan have significantly higher profile candidates from their home states already in the race. So it's not like they'll have that fundraising or polling advantage going for them.

(CNN)Terry McAuliffe is moving closer to a 2020 presidential run, Democrats close to the former Virginia governor tell CNN.

McAuliffe has been telling Democratic allies that he is leaning toward jumping into the Democratic presidential race next month, according to three people who have spoken to him. The former governor has long said he would make a decision by the end of March, with a potential announcement later in April.

But April Fool's Day itself is probably not a great launch day, so maybe one of them will announce on April 2nd?

Oh god we're going to get some fake announcements, aren't we?

Remember when Joe Walsh assumed Clinton would win, so he announced his 2020 candidacy back in 2015?

He has, apparently, maybe, the nebulous and vague concept of "Obamaworld" behind him. How that manifests itself, we don't know. An Obama endorsement? Hell no, obviously not, are you kidding? But... David Axelrod joining the campaign? Maybe? Now *that* would be a game changer!!! Wait, no it wouldn't.

What's the inside scoop on how easily Ventura can even get the nomination? Is it a purity vs. attention thing? Which do they value more, this year?

There's not much interest in Ventura from Green Party veterans in the circles with which I'm familiar.

It's mostly a project of Bernard Brothers in Exile who are unwilling to vote for Joe Biden but equally dissatisfied with backing a principled candidate who is unlikely to attract much media attention. They would prefer losing with a controversial celebrity who draws cameras.

Very good points! I do wonder though, if anyone in the Green Party is seeing a real opening here to hit that coveted 5% for the first time, with the Libertarians set to nominate an unknown. Hard to believe the temptation isn't there to nominate someone who'd attract a *lot* of media attention. Which Ventura certainly would.
