I move to pass the following emergency resolution:
A Resolution
on electoral conduct
1. Democratic Alliance hereby condemns the decision by the president to fire Registrar General Peebs from the position of Secretary of Federal Elections. Peebs displayed herself to be a capable and impartial election administrator during her long tenure, and there is no apparent reason to fire such an experienced individual and break a long tradition of treating the office of Secretary of Federal Elections in a nonpartisan manner, especially mere hours before an election.
2. Democratic Alliance hereby condemns the decision by the president to appoint Attorney General Truman as the temporary administrator for the April 2022 federal elections. Mr. Truman is currently on trial for several violations of federal law and has lost the confidence of the Atlasian public to administer this election in an impartial manner. Being that he has been a staunch political ally of the president, and that this election has become a referendum on the president's controversial actions, we can see no other reason for this move than personal political gain.
3. Democratic Alliance hereby calls on the president to immediately suspend Attorney General Truman from the role of temporary election administrator and appoint an individual whom the Atlasian public can trust to administer this election in an impartial manner.
