The offer is better for the vast majority of Greenlanders than the status quo or independence. Rational actors would choose the option if you dont view them through the racist lens of the "noble savage".

Except Greenland, both IRL and in game, has repeatedly elected Inuit Ataqatigiit to government on the main policy of blocking new mining. Almost as if many voters value culture more than cold hard cash!

I don't know if GMs posted figures before for Greenland elections specifically but they won 37% last time IRL. A plurality, but far from a majority alone.

And they're in government thanks to their coalition partner Naleraq who also oppose new mining projects. In an election campaign framed by all parties as a referendum on the rare earths mine.
Also important to note, when Trump raised the issue every single party in parliament opposed it outright! There's no reason they'd magically change their mind just because YT says pretty please, cultural preservation and gradual self-sufficiency is of utmost importance to Greenland.
