Just going to point out that at 75 cents per mile, and the distance from Philly to Buffalo being around 380 miles, if implemented the toll for driving from Philly to Buffalo would be $285 DOLLARS.
Would you pay $285 DOLLARS in tolls just to drive one-way from Philly to Buffalo?

I'm opposed to this. Tolling should be abolished, not expanded.

I am in a position to concur with the Right Honourable, The Chancellor. Road tolling is by and large an ineffective counterproductive measure that achieves little in the long run. The gas tax is a far more equal and fair tax, and is a far more effective measure for funding infrastructure maintenance, repair and overhaul.

Well you now get to try out the new part of the standing orders.
Quote
D. After the conclusion of the first 72 hours for debate, any Councillor or the Chancellor may call for a vote on said legislation. The Speaker shall open a vote if neither another Councillor nor the Chancellor objects within 24 hours of the call for a vote. If a Councillor objects to the motion within 24 hours, a vote shall be held on whether or not to proceed to a final vote, with a two thirds majority required for the objection to be overruled if the legislation has been on the floor for less than 240 hours; and a simple majority required if the legislation has been on the floor for more than 240 hours.

Ha! Thank the gods, the sh*t toll bill is dead! And by a stunning 8-1 vote no less, which is both fantastic turnout and a fantastic repudiation of this idiotic legislation.

Suffice it to say, there is no reason why this bill should have come to a vote.
Councilors, I would urge you to table your bills if they have zero chance of passage.

Well, thing is, the Chancellor is the only one who can table a bill in Lincoln Tongue

I guess I will notify you whenever tabling is needed instead of pushing for a final vote that is soundly rejected

I understand your point, however it would not be my inclination to initiate the process to revoke a bill from the floor without the express consent of the bill's sponsor. I know that is not mandated by the Standing Orders, but I would not wish to set a bad precedent.

I do think that it is far better to take bills like this to a final vote, simple so the Council has the opportunity to fully and wholeheartedly reject legislation like this.
