Election Results 2020
with your hosts, Wolf Blitzer and John King

Blitzer: Good evening. I'm Wolf Blitzer.

King: And I'm John King. And we're here to bring you the results of the biggest night of the primary season, Super Tuesday.

Blitzer: Indeed we are, John. It is now 9 PM in the east, and we are now getting the following results.

Blitzer: We also have a projection to make.

Blitzer: Stacey Abrams winning Tennessee now; not a huge surprise, given it is a Southern state in a region with high African-American turnout and thus strong support for Abrams; in fact, if anything, it's a bit close for comfort for Abrams.

King: Indeed, Wolf, but a win is a win, and speaking of wins we now have the final results and delegate totals from Vermont and Virginia.

Blitzer: Definitely something to watch to see how those grow as the night rages. We will be back with more results after the break.

King: No clear frontrunner in the race at this time as Steyer and Abrams are separated by only six delegates grand total following tonight, while Gillibrand is also above 400.

Blitzer: Definitely something we'll be watching with ever-increasing interest as the primaries rage on. Thank you so much for tuning in, and good morning, because it's 2 AM.

Running Democratic delegate total (in case of emergency):

Map made by me in Photoshop and posted to Imgur (hence why it looks a little funny)

Stacey Abrams - 479
Kirsten Gillibrand - 412
Steve Bullock - 73

PHASE III, TURN VI: THE SEVEN STATES
(read: it's a week early for "The Luck of the Irish" and I'm out of clever ideas)

With Super Tuesday having ended with Tom Steyer the narrow frontrunner in the Democratic field, but Abrams and Gillibrand not far behind, the Democratic field is still chaotically split, much to the horror of DNC Chairman Perez. Meanwhile, the news media, eager for a contested convention, eggs on all four candidates, seeing reason to give Bullock airtime in light of his win in Utah. The next slate of contests includes Alabama, which postponed its primary due to voting machine security concerns. The question now becomes: with a third of delegates now allocated, can anyone get to a majority?

Current Polling (4-6 March 2020)

Democrats
Kirsten Gillibrand - 31%
Stacey Abrams - 28%
Tom Steyer - 25%
Steve Bullock - 12%
Undecided - 4%

Republicans
Mike Pence - 89%

Other/Undecided - 11%

Libertarians
Austin Petersen - 94%
Other/Undecided - 6%

Schedules for March 4th through 10th will be due March 25. There will be no debate this turn.

Blitzer: Good evening. I'm Wolf Blitzer.

King: And I'm John King. And we're here to bring you the results of seven Democratic primaries and caucuses, which are generally referred to as Super Tuesday II.

Blitzer: Indeed we are, John. We are going to take you through the results in Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, Michigan, North Dakota, Idaho, and Washington. And speaking of those states, here are the first results in now, and we can already make two major projections.

Blitzer: Ms. Abrams, of course, the heavy favorite in both of those states and thus it is unsurprising that we can call both of them this early. She also leads in Missouri, a state far more hotly contested, and so we cannot make a call there at this time.

King: Indeed, Wolf, and it will be interesting to see if Steyer or Gillibrand can turn that state around, and what these results forecast heading into other states where, while the African-American vote doesn't dominate the Democratic primary, it plays a substantial role. Can Abrams expand her coalition into those states. If she can, she might just be able to get to 1991, after all.

Blitzer: Definitely something to watch to see if it continues as the night rages on. We will be back with more results after the break.

King: And I'm John King. And we're back to bring you more results from the Super Tuesday II primaries and caucuses.

Blitzer: Indeed we are, John. We are now getting in more results from the states of Mississippi and Alabama, which we have called for Ms. Abrams, as well as Missouri, which is still out at the moment.

Blitzer: Ms. Abrams, of course, leading in all three of those states, two of which we have called already.

King: Indeed, Wolf, and it will be interesting to see if she can keep up this momentum, or if the other candidates manage to notch wins as the night goes on.

Blitzer: Definitely something to watch to see if it continues as the night rages on. We will be back with more results after the break.

Blitzer: Ms. Abrams with another major win tonight, so far she has yet to lose a contest although those numbers from North Dakota, in particular, do not look promising for her. Still, those are only the early results.

King: Indeed, Wolf, and it will be interesting to see if she can keep up this momentum, or if the other candidates manage to notch wins in other states later tonight.

Blitzer: Definitely something to watch to see if it continues as the night rages on. We will be back with more results after the break.

King: Ms. Abrams taking the lead there in the overall delegates as you can see. Pardon me for just a moment, but I think our Decision Desk has told our graphics team the wrong thing. That should be Steyer in second with 573, Gillibrand in third with 556. Most likely a communication error, and we will sort it out in a bit.

Blitzer: Regardless, thank you so much for tuning in to our coverage of Super Tuesday II. Join us on Saturday for our coverage of the Northern Mariana Islands caucuses and on Tuesday for our coverage of the results from Arizona, Florida, Illinois and Ohio! See you then.

PHASE III, TURN VII: THE LUCK OF THE IRISH

Super Tuesday II appears to have been an excellent night for the ladies in the race, as Senator Gillibrand and Ms. Abrams took all but one of the contests that evening. Meanwhile, Tom Steyer, knocked back somewhat by his string of defeats on Tuesday, now turns his attention to what he hopes will be some more favorable states, particularly the burgeoning delegate hauls of Illinois and Florida. Gillibrand and Abrams, however, are also targeting these states, hoping that wins in the delegate-rich contests could propel their own campaigns far enough ahead to claim the mantle of party unifier. Only time will tell who's right.

Current Polling (11-13 March 2020)

Democrats
Stacey Abrams - 39%
Kirsten Gillibrand - 33%
Tom Steyer - 24%
Undecided - 4%

Republicans
Mike Pence - 90%

Other/Undecided - 10%

Libertarians
Austin Petersen - 94%
Other/Undecided - 6%

Schedules for March 11th through 17th and debate responses will be due March 31. The debate will be up tomorrow morning, March 26.

SOURCES: STEVE BULLOCK DROPPING OUT, TO ENDORSE ABRAMS

Politico now reports, from an inside source in the Bullock campaign, that the Governor of Montana will drop out of the Presidential race after falling far behind in the delegate count. The source also claims that Bullock is preparing to endorse his good friend Stacey Abrams, who Bullock worked with as a former DGA chair, and that the Governor has been mulling such a move for some time.

This is a developing story

Got it.
