You were right, but this is more right:

He will run as a Republican in 2024, unless Trump doesn't run for a 2nd term.  Trump will certainly endorse him.

Kanye as a Democrat could not win a general election, and he knows it. Endearing himself to the Breitbart faction and serving as the bridge to the millennials and the blacks create the bombest coalition this world ever done seen.
The funny thing is...it would actually work. Combined with his wife's immense fanbase among urbanites and low-income women, I can't see him losing.
Kanye West is not going to do any better with black or suburban voters than a generic Republican would, if he did in fact run as a Republican.

Not him alone, but think of the whole Kardashian family backing him...the cultural impact on traditionally Democratic voters might be huge.
Maybe that would cause him to do better than a Generic R with suburban white women, but I highly doubt any significant number of black voters care what the Kardashians think about potential political candidates.
