Pretty good politics for me personally, but he has some shady personal stuff in his background.

Well, he suffered from alcoholism but got his act together. That makes me respect him even more.

I was referring to the affair with his campaign manager's wife during his time as SF mayor. I think that's despicable, personally. I try my best to separate candidates' personal lives from their political positions, which is why he's my preferred candidate in the race, but it makes me queasy to endorse an adulterer.

I'm glad he got his alcoholism under control; that's an honest to goodness demon and I respect the heck out of anyone who does that.

Also, he is just unabashedly trying to climb the political latter. He didn't become mayor because he wanted to help SF. He did to become lt. governor to become governor to become president.

Who isn't?
