Background
2018
The midterms were good for democrats. They gained 28 house seats and two senate seats (AZ+AZ special+NV-IN), giving them control of one branch.

The Democratic primaries
Elizabeth Warren ran, and won the primaries, on an extremely leftist platform, with 36% of the vote, against a split field of a 8 other candidates. Her main opponents were Cory Booker and Joe Biden.

Zuckerberg’s run
In response to Trump’s extremely low popularity and Warren’s socialistic agenda, Zuckerberg jumped in in early July, founding his new party, OPEN. He remained competitive through the summer and fall, never taking the lead, though after a good first debate, he briefly took second.

November 2nd:
RCP race ratings map

No Tossups

Going into the 2020 election, the election seems balanced on a knife edge. Warren holds slight edges in both the popular vote and electoral college, but with the record number of undecideds, any outcome seems possible.

Final polling
Warren: 31%
Trump: 30%
Zuckerberg: 27%
Other/Undecided: 12%

And so it begins.

Update 1
1. Hello, and welcome to CNN’s election night coverage. I’m your host, Wolf Blitzer, and we’ll be covering tonight’s extremely contentious, and close contest. Can Trump pull off another win? Can Zuckerberg win a state? Can Warren become the first female president? We’ll find that out, and more, in a few minutes, when polls close in our first states of the night.

And they just have.

We can call Kentucky for President Trump. Senator Warren is leading in Vermont and South Carolina, but we are not prepared to call either of them right now. President Trump is also leading in Indiana, Georgia, and Virginia, perhaps showing that he’ll outperform his polls tonight. Finally, in a shocker, Mark Zuckerberg has a slight lead in New Hampshire. He probably won’t keep it, but it’s still a very good sign for him.

2. The time is now 7:30, and polls are closing in 3 more states.
President Trump is getting an early lead in Ohio and North Carolina, and we can call West Virginia for him. Things aren’t looking good for Senator Warren now.

3. The time is now 8 PM, and polls are closing in 16 more states. We can call Tennessee for the president. We can call D.C, Delaware, and Maryland for the Senator. Trump is leading in a number of states, as is the senator, which we are not prepared to call at this hour. Overall, this situation looks bad for Senator Warren.

4. The time is 8:30, and we can call Massachusetts for Senator Warren. A bad sign, that it’s this close in Massachusetts. We can also call Arkansas for the President.

5. The time is now 9 PM. We can call Nebraska’s 3rd district for President Trump, and NJ for Senator Warren. The rest of the states closing we cannot call at this time. A shocker right now is Zuckerberg’s leads in South Dakota and Arizona. Trump seems dangerously close to losing a great number of states across the west.

I really hope this doesn't turn out to be a election nobody reached 270. I have a bad feeling they would pick Warren if it does
Wait and see.

7. The time is now 10 PM. Polls are closing in Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Iowa. We cannot call any of them at this time.

8.

Let’s check in on the race for the Senate and the House. In the house, democrats have managed to gain on net 14 seats so far, from their 221. A promising sign for keeping the house.
In the Senate, meanwhile, Democrats have already picked up 5 seats, in Kansas, Colorado, Iowa, Kentucky, and Georgia, from the 50 they currently hold. This means they hold a minimum of 53 seats, and with the seats in contention could get up to as many as 65 if they win all the tossups. President Trump might pull off a re-election, but he’ll have a democratic congress to deal with.

9. The time is now 11 PM, and polls are finally closing on the west coast. And we can call none of these states. Trump is putting up no serious contest, but Zuckerberg is. An unexpectedly close contest is currently threatening to throw this election to congress.

10. However, we can now call New York for Warren. A good sign.
11:10 PM: And we can call Louisiana for Trump.
11:23 PM: Rhode Island goes to Warren. This is going to be a very long night for those of you on the east coast.
11:30 PM: Warren takes Connecticut.
11:40 PM: Trump keeps South Carolina, running well ahead of Lindsey Graham, who has lost re-election.

A very close election, this is shaping up to be. If Warren can keep her leads in the midwest and stop the pacific coast from falling into Zuckerberg’s hands, she might just become america’s first female president.

In the house, Democrats have now gained 33 seats, giving them the majority and more, while leading by a phenomenal 15 points. And in the senate, there are only three seats left uncalled. South Dakota is an unexpectedly close contest between former Senator Larry Pressler, hoping to make a comeback as a democrat, venus incumbent Mike Rounds. Oklahoma is an open seat in a state where republicans have recently trashed their reputation. And in Louisiana, Governor John Bel Edwards is running ahead of that state’s senior senator. Democrats have already gained 9 seats, and have a great chance at gaining 3 more, giving them 62. If democrats win every uncalled state, they would have gained 13 seats, the largest swing since 1958. A telling sign of how far behind down ballot democrats Warren is running.

11. And it’s now past midnight, and still no sign of a winner. This might last well into the morning for those of you on the east coast.
12:19 AM: We can now call Missouri for Trump.
12:23 AM: Another good sign for Trump. We can now call Nebraska for him. A solidly red state, but one where Zuckerberg has put up a good fight.
12:45 AM: And we can now call Virginia for Warren. Trump was leading here for most of the night, but late returns from NOVA have saved the democrats again.
12:50 AM: And we can also call Mississippi for President Trump.

12. 1 AM, and still no sign of a winner. In congressional races, Democrats have taken South Dakota and Louisiana in the last two hours, for a total of 11 senate pickups, with the possibility of 12. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has not only lost his majority but also his seat tonight. In the house, Democrats have won 35 seat gains, with the current total being 252-160 to 1 member of Zuckerberg’s OPEN party.

Two calls, and right in a row. We can call Michigan for Senator Warren, and Georgia for President Trump. The two have an equal number of electoral votes, so it balances out, but this marks the first state flip of the night.
1:30 AM: We can now call Maine’s 1st district, and Ohio for Senator Warren. Ohio is a big swing state, and crucial to both candidates tonight. Trump was favored there going in, so this is a very good sign for the Warren campaign.
1:35 AM: We can also call Florida for Senator Warren. This is huge. No republican has won without florida since Calvin Coolidge.

13. And two calls right as the hour turns. We can call North Dakota for President Trump and Maine’s two at large electoral votes for Senator Warren. Small gains, but important in this election.
2:18 AM: And we can now call Maine’s 2nd district for Senator Warren, making it all of maine that she has won.
2:23 AM: And we can now call Utah for Mark Zuckerberg. He might not be winning the presidency tonight, but his win here marks the first time a third party has won a state since 1968.
2:30 AM: And we can now call Texas for President Trump. A big gain for him.
2:39 AM: We can now call New Mexico for Senator Warren. No surprise there.
2:45 AM: And South Dakota stays with President Trump. Zuckerberg has put up a good fight across the Mountain West, but Trump seems likely to win every state there.
2:49 AM: And we can now call Nebraska’s 1st district for Trump. He seems likely to carry the 2nd too.
2:53 AM: And we can now call Wisconsin for Senator Warren. Our 3rd state flip of the night, and a big one. If Warren can keep California in her column, she seems poised to win the night. She now leads with 199 electoral votes to Trump’s 158, with Zuckerberg having 6 and 175 still being uncalled. Zuckerberg has no path to victory left, but he can still throw the election to the incoming democratic congress (62D-38R in the senate, and 255D-167R-2O), where he hopes that he will prove a compromise candidate. Can he do? It seems tonight will all come down to California.

Sorry if I missed it, but who is Warren's running mate?

My guess is Zucky gets Pres and the Dem running-mate gets VP
Sherrod Brown.

14. And we are getting two more calls. Nebraska’s 2nd and Kansas will both stay with President Trump, completing his sweep of the interior plains.
3:11 AM: And we can call Colorado for Senator Warren now. Good news for her in her struggle to fend off Zuckerberg in the west. Zuckerberg might not win a lot of states tonight, but the national popular vote figures are looking good for him. He’s less than a point behind trump, making it likely that he will get the best third party performance in the popular vote ever.
3:17 AM: And we can call Minnesota too for Senator Warren. Unexpectedly close tonight, but her victory here makes it the entire midwest. However, it seems we’ll be waiting a while longer for California to be called.
3:18 AM: And our third swing state call for Senator Warren in less than ten minutes. We can call Nevada for her. Trump was leading there for much of the night, but Warren keeps it in her camp. Things are looking increasingly good for the Senator.
3:21 AM: And Zuckerberg wins his second state. Arizona goes for the independent candidate, the first time the state has ever done so.
3:30 AM: And we can now call North Carolina for Trump, but with a caveat. He appears to have won after 8 hours of counting, but the result is so close we believe that there will be a mandatory recount.
3:35 AM: And Zuckerberg carries Hawaii, with what seems like 47% of the vote, owing to overwhelming support from the asian community.
3:50 AM: And we can now call Montana for President Trump. A lot of calls in quick succession now.
3:51 AM: Wow, this is a big one. We can now call Pennsylvania for Senator Warren. This makes it so that’s even if Trump wins every state up for contention, he’ll still need to also carry North Carolina in the recount. A re-election seems increasingly unlikely. Meanwhile, Senator Warren is now only 26 electoral votes away from the presidency. With all the states being called for her, she now has a path to victory even without California.

15. And at 4 AM, still no winner. For those of you still up on the east coast, it might be advisable to go to bed. This election seems like it will last for a while longer.
4:09 AM: And we can now call the swing state of Iowa for Senator Warren. She seems to putting the Obama coalition back together.
4:20 AM: This is very nearly a historic call. We can call New Hampshire for Senator Warren, despite a close race from both President Trump and Mark Zuckerberg, putting her at 254 electoral votes. A few states on the west coast will determine whether Warren wins or the election is thrown to the house.
4:30 AM: A late, but mostly expected call. President Trump carries Idaho, despite a close race from Mark Zuckerberg there.
4:45 AM: And we can call Alaska for Mark Zuckerberg. He was leading there in pre-election polls, but the only one that really matters is the poll on election night. And there are only three states left counting, the pacific coast ones. Senator Warren needs to win at least one of them, otherwise no matter what she’ll fall just short.

17. We can now call California for Senator Warren, putting her at 309 electoral votes. Senator Warren is now President-Elect Warren, the first female president of the united states. We’re hearing that she’ll be giving an Victory speech at 6:30.
5:19 AM: And we can also call Oregon for President-Elect Warren. Washington is now the only state left.

18. 6:23 AM And we can call Washington for Mark Zuckerberg, though we believe it will go to a recount.

Senator Warren’s historic victory speech will begin shortly, although President Trump has angrily refused to concede and has indeed launched a furious tweet storm, stating “I won states like IA and OH big lst time and now the lying fake news media are calling them for Pocohantas. there will be a major 1/2.”
“2/2 invesnitagation into voter fraud which is a major proble despite what the lying fake news media says. MAGA!”
