I think it's interesting that everything got added, because it's likely that a whole new can of worms was just opened. As detailed best for maxmium outreach in 538's redistricting podcast series, there are a million and a half different ways to define 'fair.' Throwing them all onto the site will likely prompt these discussions more frequently than before. A could would go all along the border of a state, failing in compactness but not cutting counties. A map could make most seats competitive or as close to the baseline as possible, ignoring other man-made geographies. It also likely gives fuel to those that seek to correct for a states geographic bias or ignore the well documented research that FPTP gives 'bonus' seats to the party with more stable base of support in a given locality.
In the end, the only people who know what is best for their locality are those who live there.
