I think there should be tiers that people think about when looking at the candidates. They probably had 5-7 people send in financial stuff with another 5 or so that they called to talk to.

Here's what I think those tiers look like:

Frontrunners - Harris, Warren
Back-Ups - Susan Rice, Klobuchar, Demings, Lujan Grisham, Lance Bottoms
Called, but no - Abrams, CCM, Whitmer, Duckworth, Baldwin

Frontrunners will be the ones decided upon if both of their vets clear, and if they both have bad things pop up in the vets, they will turn to the back-ups.

This would make sense with the Abrams answer, Whitmer not talking about it, and CCM denial going public.

Around or less than 20 days out and the internal Biden team has been pretty quiet for the past week or two.

Would expect it to be between Harris and Warren, especially since they are getting no buzz right now.

I think that the bigger thing is that:

- Biden has a relationship with both of them
- Biden knows that they can battle on a debate stage
- Biden knows that they both bring supporters (email lists, phone numbers, & donors) along with a group of activists who will go to battle for them in a general
- They are both in the Senate and have a lot of connections in the Senate

And most importantly: They both are going through full vet processes that have most likely come back very well since there hasn't been a word that has come out of the Biden internal team about them in the past 3 or so weeks.

They both have benefits. They've both been the front-runners (with Klobuchar before she dropped) and they both will bring some level of votes in. Most importantly, they both can be trusted. I'm sure the Biden team is finishing their vets, having some one-on-one conversations, and talking to their internal team about which one to pick over the next 15 or so days.

What does either add to the ticket beyond what voters Biden already has?

There's a lot of posts here about a bunch of different things, but I'm just going to put the 4 separate articles that all have independent sourcing about where we are here. Here they are in order:

Thursday 7/30 Night -- Amie Parnes, The Hill
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/509483-vp-hopefuls-jockey-for-position-as-bidens-final-decision-nears
Decision Aug. 10th week and the finalists are Harris, Bass, Rice, and Warren. Parnes reported later that Duckworth is still in the running, but is not a finalist.

Friday 7/31 Afternoon -- Zeleny and Lee, CNN
https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/31/politics/joe-biden-running-mate/index.html
Decision Aug. 10th week and the finalists are Harris, Bass, and Rice. Outlines others that are in contention including Warren, Duckworth, and Demings.

Friday 7/31 Afternoon -- Martin, Burns, and Glueck, New York Times
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/31/us/politics/joseph-biden-vice-president.html
Decision Aug. 10th week and the finalists are Harris, Bass, Rice, and Warren. Biden doing 1-in-1 interviews next week. Outlines others that are in contention including Duckworth, Demings, Whitmer, MLG, and others.

Friday 7/31 Evening -- Alexandra Jaffe, AP
https://apnews.com/8c5db0c580eca9c99e0ce337f4522f73
Decision Aug. 10th week and the finalists are Harris, Bass, and Rice. Outlines how Obama and Biden have talked. Also outlines that Harris' team is pushing back with Biden's team directly.

So all of this tells us a few things:
- Aug 10th week is when it will come
- Biden hasn't decided finalists yet, but they will most likely be Harris, Bass, and Rice with a possibility of Warren.
- Biden will meet with finalists next week.
- Biden is taking his time with this decision.... as he always does.
