The way this agreement was structured benefited large corporations in that they were allowed to get away with outsourcing jobs, which greatly contributed to the decline of manufacturing and unionization in the upper Midwest. I understand that trade is necessary, but trade agreements should be structured to financially penalize corporations that decide to outsource jobs.
