I look forward to seeing this thread locked because it “might start a controversial debate.”

It clearly won't considering that people like you don't have any decent arguments against the article so y'all have opted to mostly ignore it.

It’s become clear that we’re not allowed to argue against it.

The first amendment still applies to vehement hate mongers

There are no "hate mongers" on this site, and the First Amendment does not apply here. Not sure what this non-sequitur is about.

And here's a great article (including an affadavit to the Missouri AG) from someone on the inside of a youth gender clinic exposing the horrific lack of proper "care" there:

https://www.thefp.com/p/i-thought-i-was-saving-trans-kids

Do we have any independent confirmation on these claims? Any response from the clinic and its leadership? These allegations are outside the bounds of the nationally established medical ethics and should be thoroughly investigated.

Missouri is "conducting an investigation" as of two days ago, so maybe we should wait to see what they find. I wish this had happened in a state where we could be more sure of an unbiased investigation, but to be honest, I doubt that any result to this situation could possibly lead to contrition or soul-searching among the gender crowd.

As for the whistleblower herself, she clearly works in this industry and is thus sympathetic to transgender people. She is also apparently "married to a trans man," and she made a sworn affidavit-- if she perjured herself in making it, she can be fined or even imprisoned. I sincerely doubt that someone who is clearly this far left would make these statements under oath unless she had legitimate reason to believe they were true. It's either that or she's an attention seeker on the level of George Santos-- which is possible, but I wouldn't say it's likely.

I think you're a lot more likely to see pro-trans people like myself condemn this clinic if these allegations are true, than so see anti-trans people ever do "contrition or soul-searching" if this is yet another fake story, but I guess we can wait and see.

As for the whistleblower herself, she clearly works in this industry and is thus sympathetic to transgender people. She is also apparently "married to a trans man," and she made a sworn affidavit-- if she perjured herself in making it, she can be fined or even imprisoned. Who knows if any of her backstory is true, exaggerated, totally made up, anything, and who knows what motivates people to say anything. She could be lying, mistaken, earnestly trying to connect dots that just aren't there, not all there mentally, or any number of other things.

Remember that Texas doctor that was pushing hydroxychloroquine back in 2020 and seemed to have everything well-documented? Republicans were trumpeting the story, but eventually it turned out that she believes that disease is caused by having sex with demons in your imagination or whatever and all her results were fake. How do we know this isn't another situation like that?

I think we should at least hear a response from the doctors that she's accused on extreme misconduct before we just knee-jerk believe her uncritically.

I'm not "believing her uncritically." In fact, I'll go on the record saying I find many aspects of this story difficult to believe. But it's not fair to ask for "corroborating evidence" on a story that broke two days ago, which is still under investigation. Let's wait and see what happens; I won't be too surprised if this turns out to be another Dinesh D'Souza/Project Veritas incident.

My views on this issue have always been nuanced, respectful, and motivated by genuine concern for transgender people. But I'm not going to engage any further with hyperventilating narcissists who label everything they disagree with as "hatemongering." This issue is clearly no longer eligible for reasonable debate on this site.

Everybody knows gender-affirming care is healthy at this point, unless you're willfully ignorant.

Gender affirming care results in improved health outcomes.

The Gender and sexual orientation conversion therapies that conservatives favored lead to increased dangers, self-harm, and suicide. We know this, so why is there still a debate?

For the same reason why there's a climate change "debate" and a vaccine "debate". The science is settled, but people have their own biases and agendas. They'll insist there is a concerted effort to hide the "truth" before admitting that they were wrong.

There is approximately zero science involved in gender theory.
