These articles are misunderstandings of Russian events and Putin's mind
First of all, one russian journalist (Kashin) told in 2016 that he prefers Volodin as Putin's successor. Of course, it means nothing.
Second is yesterday's story. During government meating one official complained to Putin that MP Franz Klinzewitsch had threatened him and sent to this official a letter, in which Klinzewitsch told that his friend Volodin will be Putin's successor and they both will take revenge. Some MPs сonfirmed the authenticity. So this is just Klinzewitsch's tale. And I think all these events have harmed Volodin's chances to became next president.
