Wait, did this thread seriously get renamed because people were worried about it being a "personal attack"? The Deluge (or whatever variation thereof) has been named after various posters - left, right, and center - for years. Idk why a bunch of whining is coming in now.

I mean, I suppose it technically was a personal attack. The infamous Update was also ok for years until it suddenly wasn't.

Then again the entire premise of this thread is a personal attack in a way though the argument is harder to support there.

Alas, he is far from the only blue/yellow avatar that justifies murder in the name of law and order.

So guys, what would you do if there were a few dozen people with tiki torches and molotov cocktails out in front of your house, getting ready to burn it to the ground? Seriously, I'm curious to know how you'd go about handling that situation, given that you're so quick to criticize others for their methods of dealing with it.

This is a topic for another thread, but call 911 and wait for the police and/or firefighters to come.

Though I will also note that defending your home (where you would be defending your life and that of your loved ones) is not quite the same as defending your business (where you would "merely" be defending property)

I hold slightly more sympathy for people defending their home, though as always specifics matter.

So, stay inside a burning home or business until the cops may or may not show up?

No, obviously if your house is on fire you should escape or put out the fire. But at that point shooting people will not solve anything anyways.

And cops should show up. If not, add "police should be faster when attending emergencies" to the list of issues with the police

What if these people are armed and will shoot or hurt you if escape the burning building? Then what?

Well, then you die I guess, unless cops come to save you. But if a mob of tens of people comes armed at your home I doubt you could survive regardless of whether or not you shoot at them first.

Real life is not Call of Duty, and you are not going to get a "10 kill killstreak" if suddenly tens of people armed with guns come knocking on your door with the intent of killing you, your family and burning all you have.

On a night when maybe this same issue is happening all over the city, your specific home or business will be lucky if it gets priority. This has little to do with malevolence or even incompetence.

Normally, riots are concentrated in a specific area as well, it's not like they are dozens of buildings burning, several km apart.

In fact, said specific area is usually some sort of big avenue or square in the city center.

Property damage will unfortunately always exist, but it can be reduced or concentrated to a certain area.

At long last, the highly-coveted thread that officially marked the beginning of Atlas Fantasy Elections!

Fun fact: The R-SD guy in that thread is currently the Attorney General of South Dakota!
At first I didn't believe you so I looked it up and yeah, that's definitely him. No idea who else "jravnsbo" could be. Shame he isn't here now, I always like actual politicians on Atlas.

So, are there any posts of his that we could leak to take him down in a future South Dakota election?

That's a perfectly defensible post, given 90% of the posters here at any one point should not be running for elected office.

Badger ran for office, Sanchez would have run for office hadn't Trump been President, Moun was a State Rep, Torie ran for office.

I did? I wrote myself in as Inspector of Elections for my ward when I was 19 and won because I was the only vote, but....

Huh

Weren't you an elected judge at one point? (And therefore registered R since you live in some R+99 county?)

This still doesn't explain why flyover country WWC people deserve a tax cut.

I mean of course, I would support my own interests. Quite frankly, I also never get this sympathy for these rural racists in Appalachia, I never understood why we must pander to them? Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't think I am.

So we should be subsidizing WV racists?Huh?

We get it, you hate white people and you hate poor people.

I mean honestly WV is just full of rural, racist hicks who can't tolerate Democrats because Democrats want to do something about climate change and don't play white resentment politics. The old Dixiecrats couldn't bear to see their beloved party actually decide to support minorities. Also let's be honest, if WV voted Democrat, Republicans would say the exact same thing about how awful it is.

If you want to stop subsidizing poor, stupid racists, then stop supporting the party that wants to give them free healthcare, social security, UBI, and welfare.
Honestly in any sane political alignment Suburban would be a member of the main right wing party, slashing taxes and cutting welfare for the "poor uneducated racists".

And those WV poor people would be voting for the main left wing party but that's besides the point

Outside the English-speaking world? Latinx is an English word near exclusively used by English speakers. Much less common to see it in Spanish-speaking communities.

As someone who lives very obviously in a Spanish-speaking community, while Latinx itself is an uncommon word (I am always surprised by the fixation on 1 word as opposed to the broader concept of inclusive language); parochial_boy is always right in that inclusive language is a very big debate in societies with gendered language.

Trust me I have seen plenty of people writing stuff like "Vosotrxs" and what not among people I know.
