Eh, I'd agree with removing development aid, tying up development aid with migrant control. However as others have said, it would pretty much ensure Chinese dominance over Africa and tbh it's not like the inmigration is easy to stop. So it's probably a double edged sword at best and a shot in the foot at worst.

As long as Europe is a better place to live in than say, Nigeria; inmigration will happen no matter what. Since absolutely thrashing the economy so that staying in Africa is a more appealing option would be unpopular, inmigration will happen.

It might be reduced, integration can work better, etc; but it's a reality we must face. We must fight illegal uncontrolled inmigration, but we must also make legal inmigration easier.

Also, I think the Nauru camps were a success? (for Australia at least). I'm pretty sure they worked perfectly to reduce inmigration.

I've sometimes thought that asylum seekers should be thrown into jail right when they enter the country. If they are legitimate asylees, let them in and take them out of prison. If not, charge them with illegal entry and throw them back home.
