Reminder that when I could actually write something readable and finish what I started, I wrote a pretty good blog post on the 2014 election: https://welections.wordpress.com/2014/05/26/south-africa-2014/

Some people might enjoy it.

Wow, that's a very in depth guide and an interesting read! Congrats!

Apparently the South African government has started to seize land from white farmers without proper compensation

So, will that affect the election somehow? How popular is expropiation without compensation?

Well, other than "no expropiation without compensation" and maybe the making layoffs easier (depends on South Africa's laws) that seems like a very right wing manifesto.

Will it hurt the DA?

What sort of coalition would the DA be able to form in Gauteng? I imagine DA-EFF is not viable at all, is it? I'd expect some sort of ANC minority?

DA is the party for most white people right?

Yes, generally speaking. Some of the more hardcore Afrikaners go for VF+, but Anglos go for the DA more.

Here’s a site with a bit of a demographic breakdown. It’s a few years old though.

I now want to meet the 1% of white EFF supporters Tongue

On another note, ANC+EFF got above the 2/3 threshold, so I guess land grabs will happen no matter what now.
