I don't keep a record of Gilli's voting, but has she moved to the left or still a moderate hero?

she's now the 3rd or 4th most liberal senator, totally understandable, given that she represents New York.

Um, she's representing her state, which likely would agree with her on this vote. Most New Yorkers do not agree with the paranoid gun-huggers.

Well, if NY can't stand  moderates / conservatives, then explain how the hell Al D'Amato won three terms?

It's probably similar to how Frank Church won four terms in Idaho.

D'Amato had good rapport with his constituents, and the state was a different place politically back then: Upstate cast a larger share of the state's vote and Long Island was much more Republican.
