As a CT resident polling in CT always tends to favor republicans. I still think this race is Lean is D unless Ganim or Stewart win the nomination than it is a toss up. Also, the CT GOP is really trying to ride trump's coattails who is really unpopular in the state. Remember a bunch of towns just flipped to democratic control after years of republican control.

What does a GOP pickup here mean in terms of redistricting?

Not much last time redistricting happened they couldn't get the legislature to vote 2/3rds so it went to the courts. The goal for CT republicans it to take Bridgeport out of the 4th and put in the 3rd. Here is an article on it

I don’t think that a gubernatorial race in a state that has an astonishingly unpopular Democrat Governor and a history of Republican success in statewide races is even close to a bellwether for the national environment. Remember, Jodi Rell won re-election 63-36 in 2006.

Rell was also able to run on the fact she governed as a moderate. Most of these republican candidates are running on a trump platform.
