Not clear yet. Could give the investigation some autonomy but still ultimately reports to Rodstein and the DOJ and the President by extension.
What's wrong with that?

Trump said he wanted to speed up the investigation so it can't be use by Democrats forever.

He is delivering it now.

This is a brilliant move -- assuages concerns to a point, and will likely blot out coverage of the Comey memo, at least temporarily.

Taking this back, at least for the time being, since it seems like Trump may not have been involved in this decision.
But he is appointed by Justice Department. Could it really have happened without Sessions?

Rosenstein made the appointment (presumably because Sessions is recused).

Ok. It sounds a bit strange given Rosenstein's "firing" memo.

This is somewhat strange.
Why did it come from Rosenstein and not Sessions ?
Did (and can) Rosenstein by-pass (go over) Sessions, and do this all based on his judgment alone ? I don't know enough about how the (DoJ and Special Council) procedure(s) work in this matter.
This is basically my question. Didn't Sesions have at least some kind of passive involvement?

Interesting. Though I don't understand how one can verify it?

Still, good choice. 12 years as FBI Chief. They clearly want to make it look like a fair and reasonable exchange Comey-Mueller.

What's wrong with WL:s tweet? They linked to the original message so everyone can follow up the context.

I must admit that I'm truly impressed of how elegantly Trump puts in the fact that 'Democrats have lost an election that they should have easily won because of the Electoral College' (and can't get over it) in any discussion.
