In fact, given that China is the second most powerful country in the world (and far beyond the third most powerful), this is an event of monumental importance that's second only to the US presidential election. Especially since it'll show how much Xi will continue to centralize power in the Party. This will have implications regarding both how much the CCP will increase its authoritarianess (is that even a word?) by and what kinds of economic reforms will be made in the midst of the economic slowdown.
